Music

The stereo is sleeping
The speakers do not wait or hate
No heart metallic beating
The wires are it’s veins
It isn’t a computer
It doesn’t have a brain
No sentimentality
Or trips down memory lane, but
When I turn it up I go insane
I go insane
When the music hits my brain
There’s no fear
No pain
And my problems go away
So get me to the back room
Behind me, close the door
I’m sick of all your bleating
Can’t take it any more
So crank it up
Crank it up
Crank it up, ‘cuz
When I turn it up I go insane
I go insane
When the music hits my brain
There’s no fear
No pain
And my problems go away
So take all of your money
Your shiny diamond rings
Your politics-religeon
And all your precious things
And stick ‘em up . . .
Stick ‘em up . . .
Stick ‘em up . . . ‘cuz
When I turn it up I go insane
I go insane
When the music hits my brain
There’s no fear
No pain
And my problems go away
So go insane!
Go insane!
Let the music take your brain
Where there’s no fear
No pain
Let your problems roll away
She’s electric
Ponytail down to there
I’m infected but she
Really doesn’t seem to care
White witch
Black magic
I’m gonna need a remedy
Soul fire
Keep burnin’ on
Hey! Work it all day
The things I do
Just to get laid
Out with the light
Better sleep tight
Gotta get up before the
Early mornin’ light
She’s selective
Sorry boys, out the door
I been rejected maybe
‘bout a hundred times before
Cold heart
Hot body
I’m gonna need a miracle
Soul fire
Keep burnin’ on
Hey! Work it all day
The things I do
Just to get laid
Out with the light
Better sleep tight
Gotta get up before the
Early mornin’ light
(guitar solo)
Hey! Work it all day
The things I do
Just to get laid
Out with the light
Better sleep tight
Gotta get up before the
Early mornin’ light
Hey! Work it all day
The things I do
Just to get laid
Out with the light
Better sleep tight
Gotta get up before the
Early mornin’ light
I had heard a warning on the radio what was coming, and what might happen. The out-bound roadways were all gridlocked. People wanted out. But I’m not . . . I didn’t wanna leave. Not that I had a choice but, you know, it’s my home.
When the clouds rolled in and the darkness fell everything got really quiet. I mean, literally holding our breath. Then all at once it began, this howling, wailing, roaring sound that kept getting louder and louder. The whole place was shaking I mean violently. I couldn’t hear myself think let alone the screaming and crying around me, and coming right through me. And just when I thought I was gonna go crazy from all of this, the lights went out, and that’s when All Hell Broke Loose . . .
How do we rise
When we been blinded?
How do we rise
When we been maimed?
We rise
We rise again
It’s hard to make any sense out of what happened next. We were all losing it. Everybody. There was complete chaos. And all of a sudden, even over the howling din, this explosion just ROCKED the place! And I got picked up like a rag doll and just hurled across the room with unbelievable force – I went through the wall and I lost consciousness. And when I came to there was NOTHING left. Just a smoking pile of wreckage.
How do we rise
When we been blinded?
How do we rise
When we been maimed?
We rise
We rise again
And in the aftermath wandering around like zombies, looking for water, something to eat. And when the troops came in we were relieved. We thought they were there to help us. Lol.
How do we rise
When we been blinded?
How do we rise
When we been maimed?
We rise
We rise again
Lately all I think about is you
Lately all I think about is you
It’s a problem, there’s nothing I can do
because
Oh, that feelin’
Oh, that feelin’
Oh, that feelin’
Oh, that feelin’
Gimme some more
Worries out the door
Out the door! C’mon!
(guitar solo)
Though I try to kick you twice a day
Though I try to kick you twice a day
Though I try to kick you twice a day
You know I wouldn’t want it any other way
because
Oh, that feelin’
Oh, that feelin’
Oh, that feelin’
Oh, that feelin’
Gimme some more
Worries out the door
Get gone, worries!
(guitar solo)
Oh, that feelin’
Oh, that feelin’
Oh, that feelin’
Oh, that feelin’
Gimme some more
Worries out the door
Oh, that feelin’
Oh, that feelin’
Oh, that feelin’
Oh, that feelin’
Gimme some more
Worries out the door
(guitar solo)
We gonna rock! Rock!
Rock ‘til we drop!
We gonna rock don’t stop!
Rock, man, Rock!
We gonna roll! Oh!
Feel your soul!
Gonna rock ‘til we drop!
It’s only rock ‘n’ roll!
Gonna rock don’t stop!
Rock!
Paranoia is a deep distraction
Like a tumour in the soul
Every day I feel it grow a little
So it’s hard to control
my emotions in the public places
Boy, I hope it doesn’t show
Keep one eye on your mind at all times
‘cuz somebody’s watching
All it takes is a little thought crime
Then they get ya, they get ya!
Stay awake! Storm clouds are fat today
Thunder in the east, rumble to the west
Oceana, Oceana
Yeah
I can feel my Mother’s arms around me
Half-remembered in a dream
then I wake up and I can’t stop crying
I don’t know what it means
People shouted in the street that summer
Then I heard a lady scream
Keep one eye on your mind at all times
‘cuz somebody’s watching
All it takes is a little thought crime
Then they get ya, they get ya!
Stay awake! Storm clouds are fat today
Thunder in the east, rumble to the west
Oceana, Oceana
Yeah
(violent interlude)
Stay awake! Storm clouds are fat today
Thunder in the east, rumble to the west
Oceana, Oceana
Yeah
Stay awake! Storm clouds are fat today
Thunder in the east, rumble to the west
Oceana, Oceana
Yeah
I can hear all these
Crazy voices talking in my mind
I don’t sleep lately
They’re like babies crying all the time
Take me far away
To where the angel’s play
Every lonely night, I pray,
“Where was my mistake?”
Boring into me
At my job I dream of going home
Just me and my movies
Quietly I watch them all alone
(repeat Chorus)
This is not where I’m supposed to be
There were suck high hopes for me
(guitar solo)
Where was my mistake?
Lemme tell you something
If I ever got the chance
‘Long as I get paid well
I’d do any dirty dance
I got no pride
I’ll sell my soul
I got no deep-down true beliefs
That I won’t let go
Just gimme some money!
I won’t stop ‘til I got lots of
Money!
Anything you want - you got it!
Money!
I won’t stop ‘til I got lots of
Money!
Anything you want – you got it!
I will do your violence
All those things that make you sick
Nothing is too nasty
I’ll pull any dirty trick
I got no life
I’ll be your slave
I’ll keep your deep dark secrets
‘til I’m buried in my grave
Just gimme some money!
I won’t stop ‘til I got lots of
Money!
Anything you want - you got it!
Money!
I won’t stop ‘til I got lots of
Money!
Anything you want – you got it!
And I’ll tell you what,
(Grab it! Get it! Reach!! C’mon! Why are they looking at me? The money is worth it! Look at me! You can do it! Look at me! Come on! Succeed! You’re a winner! Why don’t you look at me!?)
And I’ll tell you what,
Once I get my millions I won’t be giving it away to charity, I’ll tell you that much. I’ll be using it for sex, I’ll be using it for power, and if you get in my way your gonna pay!
Just gimme some money!
I won’t stop ‘til I got lots of
Money!
Anything you want - you got it!
Money!
I won’t stop ‘til I got lots of
Money!
Anything you want – you got it!
Have a seat ‘cuz I know what you need
Keep your eye on the shiny silver screen
Boring reality is so unfair
I can help you there, I can help you there
You could be a star you could go far only just believe
Zombified – barely alive
Hungry and lost and lonely
Zombified – cannibalized
Servants of the screen
I can see by the length of your stare
The lights are on but there’s really no one there
Pale and puffy with hard-boiled eyes
Lost inside your mind, lost inside your mind
Wishes do come true it could be you only just believe
(repeat chorus)
Zombified – barely alive
Hungry and lost and lonely
Zombified – cannibalized
Servants of the screen
This is how to feel it’s a raw deal baby keep it real
Zombified – barely alive
Lost in the information
Zombified – cannibalized
Food for the corporation
Zombified – barely alive
Hungry and lost and lonely
Zombified – cannibalized
Servants of the screen
I’m always trying to deal with tomorrow today
So it feels like life isn’t goin’ my way
The odds against are formidable
My defences are minimal
So I’m
Waiting ‘round for perfection
Holdin’ out for the truth, well I’m
Hangin’ on for protection
And saying “Farewell!” to my youth
In a Goddamned screen
What a Nightmare!
Sometimes I feel like I’m an actor – the lead
The melodrama so intense I bleed
For my audience is formidable
And my Self – unforgivable
So I’m
Waiting ‘round for perfection
Holdin’ out for the truth, well I’m
Hangin’ on for protection
And saying “Farewell!” to my youth
In a damned machine
What a Nightmare!
(interlude)
So I’m
Waiting ‘round for perfection
Holdin’ out for the truth, well I’m
Hangin’ on for protection
And saying “Farewell!” to my youth
Forever
Waiting ‘round for perfection
Holdin’ out for the truth, well I’m
Hangin’ on for protection
And saying “Farewell!” to my youth
In a damned machine
In a waking dream
In a Goddamned screen
What a nightmare!
No end
in site
our love
falls
down
into
a
Deep dark hole
From the blinding light
To the inky midnight
No control
Far beyond what’s right
Nothin’ left to do but fight
Like a train and it ain’t gonna stop at all
Not even if you fall
On the tracks well you ain’t comin’ back inside
Ooh! It’s a one-way ride
With broken
hearts
we float
out
weightless
into
Cold deep space
Tired of asking why
Nothing left to cry for
Soul erase
Disconnected, fried
The scenery of our lives goes by
(repeat Chorus)
(guitar solo)
(repeat Chorus)
No return, no exchange
Under a harlot sky
too many people
with disconnected eyes
fumbin’ tumblin’
racing through our lives
Well it’s late
And I don’t want no more
City Lights
Take me home the back way
I wanna see stars, trees,
All my friends and me
Back in the country
That’s how I roll
Into the glass and steel
too many people
caught beneath the wheels of
back room business deals
nothing that is real
Well it’s late
And I don’t want no more
City Lights
Take me home the back way
I wanna see stars, trees,
All my friends and me
Back in the country
That’s how I roll!!
(interlude)
Well it’s late
And I don’t want no more
City lights
Take me home the back way
I wanna see stars, trees,
All my friends and me
Back in the country
That’s how I roll!!
